RoboWizards Program

The Robo Wizards program is centered around building, programming and commanding your own robots, making learning a fun experience. Learners use software to plan and test their prototypes, reflect on the outcomes, and modify their models to achieve desired results

“Everyone should learn a computer language because it teaches you how to think. I think of computer science as a liberal art.” – Steve Jobs.

The course is designed to leverage knowledge success, extend critical thinking and problem solving skill sets, while successfully imparting basics of science and math, developing conceptually strong programing fundamentals.

Level 1

RW01 : Intro to Robotics

In this program, students build a basic differential drive robot using the Lego Mindstorms EV3 platform and adapt it with various attachments for making the robot smarter. The objective of the program is to introduce the participants to basic robotics and feedback based sensor control. Every session ends ina predefined challenge which encourages problem solving and critical thinking.

Level 2

RW02 : Application-Build and Code

This level is focused on building and programming various Lego scale models, thereby simulating real-life applications. It provides a good insight into how sensors, computers, and programming logic is interacting with us in our everyday lives. The sessions reinforces the concepts of RW-1 and brings in an application perspective to the theoretical concepts.

Level 3

RW03 : Working with Sensors (Advanced)

This level introduces new programming concepts such as data wires, arithmetic, and logical operations, reading of sensor data and using the same in the program to control the output. The level ends with students being able to encapsulate reusable code into custom myBlocks and use them to simplify the programming logic. The program aims at developing computational thinking and problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging manner.

Level 4

RW04 : Application – Build and Code

This level focusses on building skills and applying the theoretical concepts form RW-1 and RW-3. The activities provide an application perspective, providing insight into how the theoretical concepts can be correlated and put to work in different environments.

Level 5

RW05 : Feedback Control

In this level, the emphasis is developing techniques to improve accuracy and control of the robotic creations. Sensor calibration, concepts of proportional feedback control, intercommunication between robots, are some of the new concepts introduced.  Activities provide enough exposure to develop a keen sense of programming logic and develop computational thinking skills.
